GAFFNEY, S.C. (October 2, 2017) – Ross Chastain capped off an impressive NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Dover International Speedway with a 12th place finish in the No. 4 “Use Your Melon. Drive Sober.” Chevrolet Camaro.
Chastain, having announced his contract extension with JD Motorsports with Gary Keller on Friday, made it to round three of qualifying and started the Drive Sober 200 in 12th place. Throughout the race, Chastain never fell out of the top 15 and ran in the top 10 for many laps.
“Our day was solid,” Chastain said. “We ran well and consistently all day despite lacking some overall grip. That’s the only thing that cost us a couple spots at the end. This is definitely one of the most consistent weekends that we’ve had, and I think being in the Cup car helped a lot. Overall, I’m very proud of this No. 4 team and thankful to the Delaware Office of Highway Safety for their support.”
Chastain also competed in Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Apache Warrior 400 driving the No. 15 “Use Your Melon. Drive Sober.” Chevrolet SS for Premium Motorsports. Chastain had a strong start to the race, but something broke in the steering, and he was forced to spend several laps in the garage. The No. 15 finished 38th.
Next on the schedule is the Drive for the Cure 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, October 7th.
