JDM Helping David Fight Brain Cancer.

GAFFNEY, SC – Air Force Veteran, David Call, is looking for the NASCAR community’s help to raise money for his medical expenses.

David Call of Tuscaloosa, AL, was recently diagnosed with brain cancer. David is a longtime friend of JDM’s current VP of Sales and Marketing, Tony Priscaro. Priscaro and Call both graduated high school together in 1987 from Wilmington Area High School, in New Wilmington, PA. “I can still remember like it was yesterday, all the cool times we had in elementary, junior high, and high school,” said Priscaro. “David has worked very hard to help people throughout his life, it’s time people started helping him.” He continued.

With the overwhelming amount of medical bills, David and his family are looking to raise funds to help cover those costs. “All I can do is fight this and be strong for my family,” said Call, 53. JDM is proud to showcase a decal on both the No.4 and No.6 car next week for Talladega to bring awareness to David’s GoFundMe. To donate, please visit GoFundMe

JD Motorsports and Bayley Currey Throwback to Terry Labonte at Talladega Superspeedway

JD Motorsports and Bayley Currey Throwback to Terry Labonte at Talladega Superspeedway

GAFFNEY, SC – JD Motorsports and Bayley Currey’s No. 4 team are throwing it back to recognize one of the original Alka-Seltzer drivers - Terry Labonte - with a special paint scheme this weekend at Talladega Superspeedway.

Alka-Seltzer will be the primary sponsor for Bayley Currey’s No. 4 Chevrolet at the Sparks 300 at Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday, October 1. This will mark Alka-Seltzer’s fourth appearance with the team so far this season.

The No. 4 Alka-Seltzer Chevrolet will feature Labonte’s Alka-Seltzer paint scheme from the 1997 Busch Grand National Season.

During his partnership with Alka-Seltzer, Currey has been vocal about how the previous drivers who have represented Alka-Seltzer on the track have also inspired him in his own racing career. Now he’ll be literally driving the colors of those legendary drivers.

“Terry (Labonte) is pretty cool, he’s another Texan like me,” said the 25-year-old Currey. “We both raced around Texas at the same tracks when we were coming up in our racing careers. I’ve always looked up to Terry, and I can’t wait to be driving his colors around Talladega.”

The Alka-Seltzer partnership is managed by A.E. Engine. In addition to its sports sponsorship sales and marketing efforts, A.E. Engine is also the official publisher of the NASCAR-licensed magazine NASCAR Pole Position.

The Sparks 300 is live on USA Network, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (Ch. 90) on Saturday, October 1 at 4 p.m. EST.

JD Motorsports is gearing up for both the final portion of this season and for a strong start in 2023

JD Motorsports is gearing up for both the final portion of this season and for a strong start in 2023

With seven races remaining in the 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series schedule, JD Motorsports is gearing up for both the final portion of this season and for a strong start in 2023.

Races at Texas, Talladega, Charlotte, Las Vegas, Homestead, Martinsville and Phoenix remain on the ’22 schedule as the Gaffney, S.C. based JDM team completes another successful season in NASCAR’s No. 2 series.

“We’ve had strong cars all this season and some good finishes,” said team owner Johnny Davis. “We were especially excited about Bayley Currey’s 11th place finish at Bristol in the No. 4 Alka-Seltzer car. Bristol is one of the toughest tracks on the schedule. To finish every lap there is quite an achievement, and for one of our cars to come home 11th shows where this team is headed.”

Davis also announced that Houston, Texas driver Brennan Poole, who has raced in the Xfinity Series for four seasons, will drive JDM’s No. 6 Chevrolet this year in races at Texas, Homestead and Phoenix.

Davis said JD Motorsports is hard at work on plans for 2023, a season that will carry the Xfinity Series from Daytona Beach to Las Vegas to Chicago and beyond. The new July 1st Chicago Street Race adds another tantalizing sponsor opportunity for partners interested in joining the JDM effort.

Davis said JDM plans to return to a three-car team for 2023. Currey will return to the team’s No. 4 car, and JDM is seeking talented drivers and dedicated sponsor/partners to fill out its three-car stable for the new season.

“We’re very excited about how 2023 looks,” Davis said. “I’ve been around this series for a long time, and the schedule looks to be the best it’s ever been. We’re going to be all over the country with our cars, and we’re going to have some great opportunities for partners to come on board and race with us.”

“We’re always looking to put the best drivers together with the best partners so that we can keep this team running and racing at its highest level.”

Currey said the Bristol result is more evidence that JDM is on the right track.

“We don’t have the biggest team, but we have one of the most dedicated,” he said. “We ran so strong at Bristol, finishing ahead of some of the series’ most established teams and showed that we’re capable of more. I’m looking for strong teammates and dedicated partners to come on board and help us build on a strong foundation.”

Vargas leaves Daytona with career best finish

Daytona Beach, FL – On Friday night, the NASCAR Xfinity Series made its second trip to the Daytona International Speedway, for the running of the Wawa 250. Persistent rains canceled qualifying and pushed backed the race until 10:30 pm. The team was looking forward to racing at Daytona because of their several great finishes they have had over the years.

Ryan Vargas, driver of the No. 6 National Metering Services Chevrolet, secured his career best finish with a P6. While working his way around the rough racing, Vargas was able to hold steady for a spectacular performance at the legendary track. He gained the second most positions in the race. “This is a huge success for us and we’re going to carry this momentum to Darlington.” Vargas said, who is currently 23rd in driver points.

Bayley Currey, driver of the No.4 Alka-Seltzer Chevrolet, had some bad luck finishing 30th after being caught up in one of the “big ones” during overtime. “It’s tough for the team, everyone worked hard on this car, but it is Daytona; you never know the outcome. We will just go back to the shop and focus on Darlington” said Currey, who is currently 21st in driver points.

Bayley Currey honoring Ron Rice at Daytona

Bayley Currey honoring Ron Rice at Daytona

GAFFNEY, SC – JD Motorsports is excited to announce a continued sponsorship of the No. 4 car with Habana Brisa, Reef Friendly Suncare. Bayley Currey will head to Daytona this week paying tribute to the “Suntan King”, Ron Rice with a Habana Brisa decal on the lower quarter panel.

More than 50 years ago, Rice a former chemistry teacher, high school football coach, and Daytona Beach lifeguard became a global icon known as the “Suntan King”. It all started with Rice hand-mixing small batches of exotic ingredients in a galvanized trash can to create his legendary suncare formulas. With his special recipes, Ron founded Hawaiian Tropic and grew it to become an $8B global brand – No. 2 in the world, which was sold in 2007 to big industry.

Years later, Ron Rice did it again and launched Habana Brisa. With his focus on the environment, Ron had a vision to develop a full line of Reef Friendly Suncare products – he wanted to deliver sun protection made with the same exotic flora, fruit, and nut extracts he was famous for – but all made reef and inland waters friendly.

Rice who passed away May 19th at the age of 81, always had a love for NASCAR racing, dating back to his Hawaiian Tropic days where he made famous the red number No. 1 Hawaiian Tropic car driven by Donnie Allison. Ron had a fondness for Bayley Currey who he often compared racing styles to that of Donnie. “It’s an honor to carry his legacy on my car, he truly is a local legend in the Daytona area”, said Currey. “Daytona is such a great track with such a rich history. I am really looking forward to this weekend”.

Habana Brisa is now owned and led by CEO, Wendy Holly, a lifelong friend of Rice’s. “Anyone who met and knew Ron, their lives were enriched for the better. I’ve learned so much from him and I’m proud to carry the Habana Brisa brand forward in his honor. Ron was proud to be associated with Bayley Currey and Tony Priscaro of JD Motorsports and we’re thrilled that Ron’s memory will be honored this week at Daytona International Speedway. It’s a triple win to be part of a great race team, with great people and a great driver - at the birthplace of racing - in Ron’s hometown.” Habana Brisa is now on Amazon can also be purchased online at www.habanabrisa.com.

Currey, piloting the No. 4 Chevrolet, is currently 21st in the Xfinity Series Driver points standings. Next Race: Daytona International Speedway: Wawa 250; Qualifying Friday August 26, 2022 at 3:05pm (ET); Race 7pm (ET) 190 laps/250 miles.

Hy-Vee Continues Sponsorship with Bayley Currey for Remainder of Season.

Hy-Vee Continues Sponsorship with Bayley Currey for Remainder of Season.

Gaffney, S.C. (August 5, 2022) -After a successful run with JD Motorsports driver Bayley Currey last week at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, retailer Hy-Vee has signed on to sponsor his team for six more races as the NASCAR Xfinity Series season winds down.

The Hy-Vee sponsorship will continue at Saturday’s New Holland 250 at Michigan International Speedway, one of the fastest tracks on the NASCAR circuit.
Hy-Vee’s name has become prominent in motorsports circles. In July, Hy-Vee made a big sponsorship splash in INDYCAR racing when it hosted the Hy-VeeDeals.com 250 and Hy-Vee Salute to Farmers 300 races at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa, with record attendance at the track. Hy-Vee’s sponsorship and dedicated involvement in that weekend made it one of the most talked about events in INDYCAR racing. The weekend included Hy-Vee displays and events, including Hy-Vee-sponsored concerts that included performances by Tim McGraw, Florida Georgia Line, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.

“Hy-Vee’s Chairman and CEO Randy Edeker and Hy-Vee have done so much for INDYCAR racing and Iowa Speedway,” said JD Motorsports Vice President of Sales and Marketing Tony N. Priscaro. “It is great to see all that positive momentum Hy-Vee created in racing carry on to Bayley, JD Motorsports and NASCAR’s Xfinity Series.”

Currey ran a strong race in the Hy-Vee No. 4 Chevrolet on the IMS road course in last Saturday’s Pennzoil 150 Xfinity race. He finished seventh in the race’s second stage and came home 21st on the lead lap.

Now, Hy-Vee’s sponsorship of Currey will continue with races in Michigan, Watkins Glen (Aug. 20), Darlington (Sept. 3), Kansas (Sept. 10), Texas (Sept. 24) and Phoenix (Nov. 5).

“To have a big sponsor like Hy-Vee show a commitment to me for six more races means so much to me,” Currey said. “I can’t tell you how rewarding it is to have a company with so many employees select me to proudly wear their logo. I am appreciative of Randy making this happen for me along with the entire team at Hy-Vee.”

The No. 4 team hopes momentum from Indianapolis will carry over to Saturday’s Michigan race.
Associate sponsors Wahlburgers, Redbox Rx and Vivid Clear Rx, which are Hy-Vee subsidiaries, also will be on the No. 4 car this weekend in Michigan.
