JD MOTORSPORTS EARNS FIRST TOP 15 AND TOP 20 FINISHES IN ATLANTA

JD MOTORSPORTS EARNS FIRST TOP 15 AND TOP 20 FINISHES IN ATLANTA

HAMPTON, GA:

Coming off the first NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) race of the season in Daytona with four clean cars, the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller (JDM) race teams headed to Atlanta Motor Speedway full of confidence.

The first mile and a half intermediate track is always a tough one on both the equipment and the tires, as the track surface hasn’t been repaved since the late 1990’s. Atlanta is known as a driver’s track, one that showcases drivers’ abilities more than others due to its’ difficult nature.

Ross Chastain made his triumphant return to JDM this past weekend driving the No. 4 Chevrolet Camaro SS, and he led the way for the team in all on track sessions. Due to qualifying being rained out, however, the field was set by owner’s points from last season, relegating Chastain to a 15th place starting spot. He hung in tough all afternoon, running a smart race near the Top 10, all while keeping care of his equipment. He brought his Chevy home in the 14th position, scoring the team’s first Top 15 finish of the year.

Nipping at Ross’s heels most of the race was Garrett Smithley in the No. 0 “In Memory of Hippie” Chevrolet Camaro SS. Owner’s points had Smithley starting from the 22nd position, but he was able to quickly work his way through the field, and with a fortunate caution, he was able to receive the Free Pass to put himself back on the lead lap. He finished in 17th place and moves up a few positions in the points standings.

For BJ McLeod’s No. 15 crew, they had a solid, under the radar type of day. McLeod was able to take care of his equipment and manage his tire wear throughout the event, coming home with a 24th place finish after starting in 29th in his No. 15 Chevrolet Camaro SS.

Stephen Leicht, driver of the No. 01 “In Memory of Hippie” Chevrolet Camaro SS, had a relatively successful weekend as well. Crew Chief Mark Setzer set the car up with a neutral feeling to maximize tire life, and it proved to be beneficial during the final stage. Some clean driving allowed them to bring home a 25th place finish after starting in 30th place.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series heads out west to Las Vegas, Nevada for the first leg of the “West Coast Swing” on Saturday, March 2nd. The Boyd Gaming 300 can be viewed live on FOX Sports 1 at 4:00 PM ET (1:00 PM local). Be sure to tune in to cheer on all four JD Motorsports with Gary Keller race teams and see how well they are able to roll the dice in the desert.

JD MOTORSPORTS SURVIVES DAYTONA, COMES HOME WITH FOUR CLEAN CARS

JD MOTORSPORTS SURVIVES DAYTONA, COMES HOME WITH FOUR CLEAN CARS

DAYTONA BEACH, FL:

The first race of the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) season was held over the weekend in Daytona Beach, Florida. The JD Motorsports with Gary Keller (JDM) teams had their heads held high entering the weekend, and they were really looking forward to starting the season off right.

At Daytona, everyone fears one thing: getting caught up in The Big One. Luckily, to plenty’s surprise, the big wreck never happened, and the race ended up being one of the cleanest super speedway races in recent memory.

Leading the JD Motorsports brigade was Scott Lagasse in the No. 4 Rimrock Devlin Chevy. After qualifying in 17th place, the St. Augustine, Florida, native stayed calm, cool, and collected, having a relatively uneventful day. He brought his Camaro SS home in the 21st position.

Next, we had Garrett Smithley, a driver who achieved a career milestone in the NASCAR Racing Experience 300, making his 100th career start. He qualified his No. 0 Flex Tape Chevy in the 26th position, and with the help of veteran spotter Freddie Kraft, he was able to make some moves to move up to finish 24th.

Coming out of Daytona with the third-best JDM finish was BJ McLeod. BJ’s No. 15 BTX Global Logistics Chevy had a mishap in qualifying, forcing him to start in 35th, but he slowly started to pick off some of his competition, coming home in the 27th position.

Unfortunately, the fanfare surrounding another JDM driver making his 100th career start came to an end early. Stephen Leicht entered the race with high hopes after laying down the 2nd best qualifying lap of the team in 23rd, but on lap 24, his No. 01 OPAV Chevy started to overheat, forcing him to bring his Camaro SS to the attention of his crew in the garage. They were unable to get him back out on track, and so he finished 38th to start the season.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to the Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia on Saturday, February 23rd. Fans can watch the Rinnai 250 live on Fox Sports 1 at 2:00 PM EST. Be sure to tune in to see how the JD Motorsports brigade stacks up against their competition for the first mile and a half race of the season.

ROSS CHASTAIN RETURNS TO JD MOTORSPORTS; RM PARKS, EZ ANGUS RANCH and McDIVITT SIGN COMPANY TO SPONSOR WEST COAST RACES

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – GAFFNEY, SC:

Coming off a well-deserved 10th place points finish in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Alva, Florida native Ross Chastain will once again drive the No. 4 JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Camaro SS for 30 races in the 2019 season. Chastain, who earned his first career win in the series last September in Las Vegas, will return to the family team based in Gaffney, South Carolina.

“We here at JD Motorsports are looking forward to having Ross back in the No. 4 in 2019. He has shown his ability to wheel a racecar time and time again while competing against some of the top teams in the sport. I am excited to see how far the improvements made in the off season will take the No. 4 car this year.” said team owner, Johnny Davis.

Blake Koch, who was originally slated to drive the No. 4, decided earlier this year to focus primarily on overseeing the success of his growing company, Filter Time. Blake’s decision ultimately leads to him stepping away from the series, and all of us here at JD Motorsports with Gary Keller wish him the best moving forward.

RM Parks, Inc, EZ Angus Ranch and Mc Divitt Sign Company will jump on board as official sponsors of the No. 4 for all five of the West Coast races within the season. According to RM Parks, Inc. president and CEO, Tim Callison, “We are excited to be part of Ross Chastain’s winning team and are looking forward to another amazing season with JD Motorsports!”  More sponsorship announcements are coming soon, so stay tuned for further updates.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series season kicks off on Saturday, February 16th, with the running of the NASCAR Racing Experience 300 at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. CHASTAIN 16th IN FINALE

CHASTAIN 16th IN FINALE

HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Ross Chastain closed out the NASCAR Xfinity Series season Saturday and reached a key goal.

Chastain finished 16th in Saturday’s Ford EcoBoost 300 and ended the year in 10th in Xfinity driver points. Driving the No. 4 Chevrolet for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller, he finished 14 points in front of 11th-place Ryan Reed.

“I can’t say enough about this team and what they’ve done for me this year – and in all our years together,” Chastain said. “To finish in the top 10 in what is a very competitive and tough series is a major accomplishment. This year is one I’ll remember no matter what happens from here forward.”

The race was made even tougher because of the fact that there were only two cautions – both for stage conclusions.

Tyler Reddick won the race and the seasonal championship.

The 2019 Xfinity season will begin next February at Daytona International Speedway in Florida.
