GAFFNEY, S.C. (October 9, 2017) – After waiting through a five-hour rain delay, Ross Chastain ran an impressive race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The No. 4 Flex Seal Chevrolet Camaro ran in the top 10 for a good portion of the night and finished 14th, his second top 15 finish in a row.
With qualifying cancelled because of the rain, the field was set by the NASCAR Xfinity Series rule book, and Chastain started in 20th. The Drive for the Cure 300 was scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. (ET), but the persistent rain and mist pushed the start of the race past 8:30 p.m.
“It’s been a good late-summer stretch for us,” Chastain said. “We didn’t have much speed in practice, but my No. 4 team made some great adjustments, and once the race started it was like a whole new car. This is the best racecar we’ve ever had at Charlotte, so I can’t thank these guys at JD Motorsports with Gary Keller enough for all of their hard work. ”
The Xfinity Series will take a week off before heading to Kansas Speedway for the Kansas Lottery 300 on October 21st.
