Dover September 2013 Race Review – Mike Wallace

DOVER, Del. – On a Dover International Speedway day marked by super-fast racing and only a couple of breathers, Mike Wallace brought the Iron Source/Meding’s Seafood Chevrolet home in 21st place.

Remarkably, the 5-Hour Energy 200 was run with only two caution flags. The final 160 of 200 laps were run under green-flag conditions, giving mid-range cars little opportunity to close up gaps.

Wallace started 22nd and advanced into the mid-teens before taking the checkered 21st.

“We had some momentum and were able to move forward,” Wallace said. “This is always a tough track to make gains on. Then, with only a couple of cautions, there wasn’t much time to toy with the car.”

Joey Logano won the race, leading 106 laps, including the final 59, but his car failed post-race inspection.

Five races remain on the Nationwide schedule. Next up – Kansas Speedway Oct. 5.
