AVONDALE, Ariz. – Ross Chastain turned a bad start into a good finish in Saturday’s DC Solar 200 Xfinity Series race at Phoenix International Raceway.
Chastain was 38th on the starting grid but rolled through the field to post a 22nd-place finish on the lead lap.
Chastain, driving the Flex Seal Chevrolet, led his JD Motorsports with Gary Keller teammates to the finish line. He was 22nd, Harrison Rhodes was 23rd and Garrett Smithley took 24th.
“It was a tough day with the heat being so bad,” Chastain said. “But we were able to move up through the field, and our car held up well. It was fun to finish in a row with the team guys.”
Justin Allgaier won the race, and Elliott Sadler kept the point lead.
The series moves on to Auto Club Speedway for a March 25 race.
